Wastewater Treatment Plant
The city’s Wastewater Division operates and maintains the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and pump station facilities of the city. The WWTP employs 1 manager and 11 operators, and processes approximately 3.5 million gallons of waste per day during dry weather and 10 million gallons of waste per day in wet weather. There are 12 sewer pump stations and 7 storm water pump stations.
Basic functions are to maintain treatment plant equipment and infrastructure of more than $75 million worth of facilities and equipment, operate the plant, maintain pump stations, and to provide laboratory testing (constant monitoring and testing of waste flows is essential).
Industrial User Survey - Mailed March 9, 2015
As required by our National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit, we are conducting an Industrial User Survey of business located within the City of Mount Vernon. This information will help us reduce impacts on the collection system, wastewater treatment facilities, and environment.
The Department of Ecology (DOE) requires the City to conduct an "Industrial User Survey" for all commercial and industrial customers. DOE collects this information to ensure that non-domestic sources of wastewater are identified and properly controlled.
If your business appears on the Businesses Identified to Provide Industrial User Survey please fill out the survey and return to the City of Mount Vernon, Public Works Dept., PO Box 809, Mount Vernon, WA 98273, by April 10, 2015.
