Senior Exemption Information

Please click HERE for an explanation of the qualifications and steps needed to apply for the senior exemption on your property taxes. 

Once you have applied and been approved by Skagit County, please fill out the Senior Discount Application Form and return to the City of Mount Vernon Finance Department in person, by mail, or email. We will need to see the approval form that you receive from the County.

Yard Waste Facility

The Solid Waste Division operates a yard waste disposal facility at 1010 Shop Lane for residents living within the city limits that are signed up for city garbage service. Not for use by commercial lawn care providers.

Residential Sewer Rates

Sewer billing rates are based on water consumption. PUD provides that information to the utility billing section of the Finance Department in January, March, and May for residential customers. We have created a utility billing cycle chart to help understand this process.

Commercial Sewer Rates

  • Commercial Sewer Rates:
    There is a $63.07 base rate for the first 900 cubic feet (ccf) of water plus $5.82 per additional 100 ccf.
  • Commercial Surface Water Drainage Rates:
    $15.86 per month per Equivalent Service Unit (ESU) (3,200 square feet = 1 ESU)
  • Commercial Garbage Rates:
    Garbage rates vary according to the size of the dumpster / container. See "Dumpster Rates" above.
